FAQ

Answers to common worries

Why can the amount received differ from the loan amount?

An offer may state a principal amount while deducting a charge before sending money. Read the disbursement section to identify what arrives in the account and what balance will be repaid. Compare offers using the same usable amount, rather than matching only the headline principal. Ask where a deducted fee appears in the schedule and whether it is included in the disclosed cost measure.

How do I identify a fee added to the balance?

A financed fee becomes part of the balance on which the agreement may calculate interest. Its effect is different from paying the same charge separately at the start. Request a breakdown showing principal, financed charges and money received. Follow each amount through the repayment schedule without assuming that a small upfront payment means a smaller total obligation.

What should I check about the first repayment date?

The first due date may not align with an ordinary monthly cycle or with the day money arrives. Identify the period covered by the first payment and any different amount. Place the actual date beside expected income and essential bills. A monthly average cannot show a gap during the opening weeks, and changing a debit date requires the provider's confirmed procedure.

How can I keep two versions of an offer distinct?

Save the date and identifier of each quote alongside its amount, term and conditions. A later document can change a rate or fee while retaining a familiar product name. Compare matching versions and ask which one is open for acceptance. Keep the final agreement separately so an advertising screenshot or earlier estimate is not treated as the signed obligation.

Does APR mean the same thing in every country?

Annualized lending disclosures are defined under local rules and do not always use identical labels or calculations. A nominal rate, APR and an Australian comparison rate should not be treated as interchangeable merely because each is a percentage. Identify the jurisdiction and product before interpreting the figure. Use its official explanation to check included fees and assumptions, then examine the actual schedule and conditions of the offer.

Preparation means accurate information

Ask for the written breakdown and conditions of any alternative offer. Comparing with and without a product is meaningful only when the assumptions remain visible.
